Happy New Year 2025

Hi, I am wishing all readers a happy new year 2025.

First of all, I'm sorry for just getting back on promotion activities after a year of silence. This is because I am preparing myself in the final year which involve exams and some paper works.

The past six months were my last semester and I did an intern course.

Influenza Self Test

Part of the news: "... Last Monday (July 31), the President of the Malaysian Private Hospital Association Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh said the overcrowding in private hospitals across the country is becoming more worrying when most of the patients are those infected with influenza.....". Symptoms for Influenza may be worse than C-19 because there are symptoms of high fever above 38°C with coughing and severe coughing and sneezing.

This test will be used as an aid in the diagnosis of the coronavirus infection disease (COVID-19), and the symptoms of Influenza. This test provides preliminary test results.

Negative results cannot exclude 2019-nCoV infection, and they cannot be used as the sole basis for treatment or other management decision. For in vitro diagnostic use only.

You can actually do a self-test (saliva) using a self-test kit that can be bought at a pharmacy.

This test kit can detect C-19 and Influenza at the same time. If 2 lines go up in the Flu A/ Flu B section, it means you have POSITIVE influenza.

If you are symptomatic, avoid going to crowded public places. Children should not be sent to school and if symptoms persist get checked.

Test Preparation:

1. Allow all kit components to equilibrate to room temperature (15-30°C) prior to testing for 30 minutes.

2. Do not place anything in the mouth including food,drink,gum, tobacco,water and mouthwash products for at least 30 minutes prior to collection of oral fluid specimen.

Medicines are very limited in stock and if the clinic is out of stock, the doctor will prepare a confirmation letter to allow you to buy at the pharmacy.
